When I set up this Web site, I didn’t really think anyone would use the “search” feature. The only reason for installing it was, well, because it was there. Imagine my surprise yesterday when I was looking over my site statistics. It turns out the Webalizer package actually lists the most common search queries (yes, you are being watched! However, I don’t have the capability of determining which user made which search). Even more surprising was the text of the searches themselves. Here they are, in no particular order:

• Articles or newspaper interviews with Sumi Jo
• Essay computer graded
• Men wearing panties on their heads
• Munger
• Video of beheadings
• What is a munger

Even more surprising, to me at least, is the fact that only one of these searches returned no results: the Sumi Jo request (In the interest of service to my readers, here’s a link to an NPR interview with the opera star).

The most intriguing question, however is this one: “What is a munger?” Here are a few possible answers:

• It is a motel on route 66 (I have nothing to do with this establishment)
• It is a town in Michigan (I’ve visited there, but missed their annual Potato Fest)
• It is a trail in Minnesota (I’ve never actually been outside the Minneapolis Airport)
• It is a blog by Dave Munger (My name is also Dave Munger, but I have nothing to do with this blog)

So, as you can see, a Munger is any number of things. As it turns out, I’m one of them, too, and this is my blog. I’m a writer, and I’ve just finished my first creative book, based on my life from the age of 8 to 11. This blog is a place where I write about everything I’m not putting in my books. I hope you enjoy it.
