    Dave,

    Packing materials are actually pretty cheap.
    Those air pillows in your graphic are basically glamorized
    plastic baggies (I’ve seen them in action in a
    warehouse–there’s a huge roll of them and they are fed
    into a machine which automatically inflates them. Pretty cool
    stuff.)

    Okay, that may be true, but why did it take two huge boxes to ship me two tiny packets of supplies for my lawn trimmer? That means double the packing, double the postage, and double the crap for me to throw away when I get home. Surely the bosses at Amazon wouldn’t be happy to see this kind of waste, and given that my order qualified for “free” shipping, this waste went directly to Amazon’s bottom line.
