We Generous

My friend from high school, Sebastian Matthews, has a new book of poetry entitled We Generous. You can download a free PDF sample from the site with several poems. Here’s a bit from one of them:

Not all veils obscure.

Just this morning
at a familiar bend
in the road to Warren Wilson
fog fills in the valley
like milk in a bowl, only
the topmost gable
of the barn visible. We are
stunned by the abundant nothingness:
brought abruptly into ourselves
then boomeranged
back into the day
through spectator eyes.

Lovely stuff.
