What’s special about every number from 1 to 69?

This is cool. But 57 really could use some help. Is there nothing more special about 57 than this?

= 111 in base 7.
is a 20-gonal number.

Update: actually the list goes up to 500! But they do skip a few numbers. Bonus question: what’s the first integer skipped?

It’s all a matter of taste, and your own personal sense of mathematical beauty, but how about 57 = 7^2 + 7^1 + 7^0 ?

  2. pat says:

    oops
this is the same thing as 111 in base 7. never mind. beverage time.

Here’s a thing: It is the number of sauces Heinz lied about to promote his ketchup (he actually had many fewer than 57 sauces).
