High school

A few weeks back, I was contacted by my high school’s 20th reunion committee. Somehow, I got roped into designing our class web site.

Yes, I do think I’ll go to the reunion, if only to see that the girls I had huge crushes on don’t look so hot 20 years later. Seriously, I had some pretty good friends back in those days, people I literally haven’t seen in 20 years. It could be interesting to see what happens.

But 20 years? Perhaps the most shocking thing is the fact that I still like the music.

1985 rocked. By then, we’d had all that great New Wave music to listen to, and the ghost of disco had faded to a thin stench of rotten eggs.

I managed to keep in touch with the only people in high school I cared about, so reunions don’t interest me. No one there I want to see, and plenty of folks I don’t want to see.

I’m so jealous! Katie McDermott & Tina Warner did ours, last year, and it was a byo-everything picnic at Discovery Park. I got the pics but couldn’t go (we were moving) but for Hunt’s catering…wow! My sister just sent me his website: he’s a big deal. Very exciting. I expect a FULL report!!!

Hey Dave. Suzanne and I are headed to the North Coast for my 20th high school reunion this weekend (with a side trip to Niagara Falls). Reunion festivities include a casual happy hour thing, a semi-formal banquet, and a family picnic. Not sure how much we’ll do, but I am curious about some old classmates, and I keep in touch (every other year or so) with a small handful of them.

As far as 80’s music goes, is your statement one of near universal appreciation for all 80’s music? Or is it that you are more familiar with more of it, and therefore like more individual tunes/bands? Were there more great tunes in the 80s than in the 60s, 70s, or (heck if I know) 90s? I always liked the fact that Rolling Stone named the Clash’s London Calling the best album of the 80’s, even though it came out in 1979.
